Masks

I appear to have gone a bit mental on ebay over the last few weeks and amassed a collection of African masks:

The big handsome fellow in the middle is my favourite. My girlfriend and my mum don't seem to like them.

Summer photos

Okay, so it's October now and I can no longer deny it: summer is gone. Here's a selection of my favourite photos from the past few months:

We actually paddled in this. It looks freezing!

Thanks to Elise for accompanying me to most of these places. It wouldn't have been anywhere near as good a summer without her! :)

Drawings from my wee sketchbook

It really is wee - I think it's A6. I used to carry it around in my pocket just in case the notion to draw struck me. Here's a few drawings of Edinburgh from last summer, for example (If I ever get the postcard idea off the ground again these two drawings will be involved!):

Calton Hill

Salisbury Crags and Arthur's Seat

Also good for the ol' museum drawing trip. Here's a couple from the Horniman Museum (which is amazing by the way)

I particularly like this one:

This one is from the National Museum of Scotland I think. I can't decided if he looks scared or stupid.

Back from Italy

So yesterday we got back from Italy. Today at work was pretty miserable, let me tell you! We could have done with a few more days (or without it chucking it down on Sunday) to explore some other places such as the Cinque Terre or the Tuscan hills but otherwise it was a good trip. Sitting outside, drinking beer and eating amazing pizza for only 6 euros has to be a good way to spend a Tuesday night in October! Here's a selection of pics:

The Italian hero Garibaldi. He must have been a great man to have a biscuit named after him.

Obligatory tower shot. Unsure if pigeon flew into tower in the immediate aftermath of this photo.

Baptistery

Lots of graffiti in Pisa... even on the trains!

It absolutely teamed down on this day. The first time we left the house we had to turn round and go back cos we were drookit! We got the train to Lucca later on when it died down a bit though. A lovely little place with some stunning architecture.

View from the window of our B and B, which had one B too many in the name (No one showed any interest in making us breakfast the whole time we were there.)

The Duomo in Florence. This is one big bastard of a church. It was hard to photograph it, it was so big. There were millions of tourists around here.

Me and Elise has some fun photos taken in here :)

Vecchio Bridge:

Galileo's telescopes. There are tons of museums in Florence. We went to the Da Vinci Museum and the Galileo Museum.

Vecchio from the other side.

The Mediterranean. We went in, it was bloody cold!

More graffiti:
